Bikaner, June 20. Water Affairs Minister Dr. B. D. Kalla gave a big gift to the residents of the city by virtual inauguration of newly constructed high water reservoirs at Banglanagar, Murlidhar Vyas Nagar and Karmisar on Sunday.
During the program organized at Rajiv Gandhi IT Center, Dr. Kalla said that providing quality drinking water to every city dweller is the top priority of the State Government. Continuous work is being done in this direction for the last two and a half years. He informed that in view of the drinking water requirement of the city till the year 2052, technical approval has been given to the drinking water scheme of 429.10 crore by the State Government. Under this, pipelines, drinking water treatment plants, etc. will be built with two clean reservoirs and more than 15 high reservoirs. The process of allotment of land for them has been started.
Dr. Kalla said that under the 'Har Ghar Nal Connection' scheme, clean drinking water has been provided to more than 20 lakh households. The target is to provide this facility to all more than one crore households by the year 2024. He said that work is also being done in the direction of conservation of traditional water sources in urban areas. According to the requirement, more and more new tube wells will be built in Bikaner East and West assembly constituencies, so that there is no problem of availability of drinking water in difficult situations like canal closure.
The Minister of Water Resources called for saving water drop by drop and said that Rajasthan has a rich tradition of water conservation. People here know the value of water. He said that farmers should also take less water crops and adopt drip or sprinkler irrigation system. The Minister said that about 25 thousand consumers would be directly benefited by the construction of three new high reservoirs in the urban area. Sufficient drinking water will reach the last mile.
District Collector Namit Mehta said that all administrative action related to the drinking water scheme of 429 crores would be done on priority so that these works should be started soon and the common people could get full benefits from them. He said that efforts are made to solve all the problems related to drinking water of the common man on priority. All the officers have been directed to take prompt action on such complaints.
Ajay Sharma, Additional Chief Engineer, Public Health and Engineering Department said that the high reservoir of Bangla Nagar is of 1750 kilo liters capacity and Rs 625.89 lakh has been spent on its construction. Similarly, Rs 310.94 lakh has been spent on newly constructed high reservoir of 1750 kiloliter capacity Murlidhar Vyas Nagar and Rs 97.72 lakh on 500 kiloliter capacity high reservoir of Karmisar area and 200 kiloliter capacity clean reservoir. Superintending Engineer Deepak Bansal proposed vote of thanks.
Local people were present at all three places
During this, Minister of Water Affairs Dr. Kalla inaugurated the three high reservoirs. Local citizens were present at the newly constructed high reservoir site of Murlidhar Vyas Nagar, Karmisar and Banglanagar and connected with the main program on the virtual platform. Yogesh Bissa from Murlidhar Vyas Nagar, Hasan Gauri from Bangla Nagar and Nafees from Karmisar said that their years old requirement would be fulfilled by the construction of these high reservoirs. For this he thanked the Minister of Water Resources.
On this occasion, Additional Collector (City) Arun Prakash Sharma at Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendra, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Om Prakash, Municipal Commissioner AH Gauri, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. OP Chahar and Joint Director of Information Technology Department Satyendra Singh Rathod were present.
